Increasing Youth Sport Participation in Differdange
The international Sport Management department of LUNEX University and the city sport Service of Differdange start a project to increase youth sport participation in the city. The project aims to better connect the sport clubs with the local day care centres and schools in Differdange.
One of the key focus points of Differdange is to improve the physical activity of the children in the city. A study showed that 58% of the children (aged 6 to 12 years) who go to daycare centers are not yet engaged in sport. Many of these children are willing to do sport when they are at the daycare centre.
Dr. Mathieu Marlier will study how to strengthen collaborations between the sport clubs, day care centers and schools to improve sport participation for this target group. Students in sport management will play an essential role in supporting this project.
By better connecting the local sport offer of sport clubs with children in Differdange, the aim is to increase sport participation.
