LUNEX interns arrived in Senegal
Our first LUNEX physiotherapy interns arrived in Senegal. This collaboration was part of a project of the German Corporation for International Cooperation. Thanks to that, Ewena, Chiara and Antoine are now in MBour Grand Hospital, in Warang. They shared with us their first impressions:
“MBour Grand Hospital, we’re here! As the first students of LUNEX University in Senegal, we are eager and delighted to discover a new country, its culture, and its healthcare system.
During the day in the hospital, we work with and learn from a local physiotherapy staff. Africa has a unique organizational structure and a higher prevalence of some disorders/pathologies that are less prevalent in Europe. We have to adjust our physiotherapy methods to the system. This helps us build up our confidence as physiotherapists.
The Senegalese people are particularly warm and willing to help us learn the language, “coutumes,” and other parts of Senegalese culture. Experiencing this together improves our collaboration skills and we are making the most out of our close bonds.
It’s a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to live and we’re ready to seize it. Jërëjëf to everyone that made it happen! “
This initiative is a project from Cognos International and we aim to continue collaborating with them and give the opportunity to 3 students per semester to do their internship in Senegal.
