And… action!
Recreational & sports activities

As a European City of Sport, Differdange offers a wide range of opportunities to stay active throughout the year. Whether you prefer outdoor activities, sports halls, club-based training or independent exercise, the region provides an ideal environment for an active student lifestyle.

Luxembourg is particularly well suited for sport and nature enthusiasts. Cycling, hiking, climbing, horse riding and water sports are easily accessible, while cultural and social activities complement student life beyond campus.

Active breaks:
sports activities at LUNEX

Staying active is part of everyday life at LUNEX. During free time or lunch breaks, students can take part in a variety of sports organised in Differdange. Activities are open to all levels, from beginners to experienced athletes, and aim to combine physical activity with social engagement.

Student sports & competitions

LUNEX students actively take part in student sports activities, with the TOSS (Tournoi OmniSport de Supélec) representing the main competitive event of the academic year. Organised annually since 1989 by CentraleSupélec, the tournament takes place every May and brings together around 4,500 students from French and international universities, including LUNEX.

In 2025, LUNEX was represented in 12 different sports at the TOSS. More than 70 students took part in the competition, achieving an exceptional result by finishing first overall. The delegation won a total of 12 medals – 7 gold, 4 silver and 1 bronze – including victories in swimming, rugby, badminton, athletics and tennis

The cheerleading team gathers in the gym next to LUNEX to train for their stunts, gym skills and choreographies. In 2024, they achieved an impressive second place at the TOSS competition.

Volleyball

Tennis & Swimming

The LSU oversees both the swimming and tennis teams, which achieved remarkable success in 2024, with both teams securing first place at the TOSS competition.

Basketball

Basketball training sessions are organised for students of all levels. Practices are structured and goal-oriented, with the objective of preparing teams for participation in student competitions such as the TOSS.

Ultimate

Ultimate training sessions are open to all levels and are organised in a structured manner. The focus is on team development and competitive preparation, with participation in the TOSS as a key objective.

Badminton

Badminton sessions are open to all levels and follow a more leisure-oriented format. Students can enjoy open play time slots in a relaxed and social environment, while still having the opportunity to participate in competitions such as the TOSS.

Handball

Handball training sessions are open to all levels. The LSU is currently developing the team, with the objective of preparing for participation in student competitions such as the TOSS.

Leisure activities beyond sport

In addition to sports, the LSU also organises a variety of leisure and social activities throughout the year. These include darts, billiards and pétanque tournaments, ice skating sessions during the winter months, and regular game nights. These activities provide opportunities for students to relax, connect with peers and enjoy campus life beyond training and competition..

Sports teams are under development at the moment and the LSU is eager to offer more and more sports activities and events in the near future. For more information, please contact the LSU.
