Osteopathy is a regulated and recognised profession that takes a holistic approach to healthcare and focuses on the assessment, diagnosis, and treatment of dysfunctions affecting the musculoskeletal and related systems.

The osteopathy studies at LUNEX are built on high academic and clinical standards, equipping students with the scientific knowledge, practical skills, and professional competencies required to excel in modern healthcare environments.

What you will learn

Our bachelor’s programme in osteopathy marks the essential first step toward becoming a skilled healthcare professional. This practice-oriented academic qualification provides a strong foundation in anatomy, biomechanics, physiology, and semiology, along with hands-on treatment approaches. Students learn to integrate clinical reasoning for elementary differential diagnosis and apply evidence-informed practices to assess, diagnose, and treat a variety of case presentations.

The curriculum includes core disciplines such as structural osteopathy, visceral osteopathy, and craniosacral osteopathy. You will be trained to identify relative or absolute contraindications to osteopathic treatment, ensuring patient safety and responsible care. In addition to clinical competence, you will develop strong communication skills to engage effectively with patients, collaborate within interdisciplinary teams, and promote preventive health strategies.

After completing your Bachelor’s degree, pursuing your studies with our master in osteopathy (provisional programme, to be launched in the upcoming years) is the final step towards becoming an osteopath in Luxembourg. It will also enable you to expand your clinical and scientific knowledge in various areas of osteopathy and develop a self-reflective practice. Ethical conduct, cultural sensitivity, and a commitment to lifelong learning are central to your professional development.

Year 1: Gain the scientific foundations

The first year builds a strong scientific and anatomical foundation while introducing core osteopathic principles. Students develop essential academic, communication, and professional skills, alongside research and ethical awareness. Practical training includes palpation, massage, and osteopathic techniques. The curriculum fosters the development of an osteopathic mindset grounded in evidence and clinical reasoning.

Year 2: Build the osteopathic skills

Building on the first year, the second year expands osteopathic identity through advanced musculoskeletal anatomical, physiological, and pathological studies. Students explore neurosciences, visceral and craniosacral osteopathy, and deepen their understanding of body systems relevant to osteopathic care. Clinical skills are refined through diagnosis, treatment techniques, and applied reasoning.

Year 3: Develop your professional expertise

The third year focuses on clinical application and professional integration. Students refine diagnostic and treatment skills and explore advanced topics in structural osteopathy. Internships provide hands-on experience in real-world settings. The year culminates in a final project grounded in evidence based practice and clinical reasoning.

Curriculum

In the bachelor’s programme, you will build a solid foundation in osteopathic philosophy, diagnostic reasoning, and manipulative techniques, following WHO Benchmarks and CEN standards for Training in Osteopathy. You will gain a deep understanding of human biomechanics, learn to interpret clinical information and diagnostic tests, and apply osteopathic treatment methods.

You have the opportunity to participate in the Pre-Bachelor Foundation Programme and improve your English if your language skills do not meet the entrance requirements for study at Bachelor level.

We will inform you in the course of the application process which supporting documents have to be provided and when. In principle, we need the following documents for your application:

  • Copy of your personal ID
  • Copy of the highest educational and/or vocational qualification
  • Language certificate (if applicable)

Depending on the degree programme (Bachelor/Master) and your country of origin (EU/non-EU), further documents may be required. More details will be provided to you in good time.

To secure a study place, we recommend that you send us your documents as soon as possible – but at the latest two weeks before the start of your studies. If you are an applicant from outside the EU, you should note that the application process for a visa can take four to 60 days. Please make sure you give yourself plenty of time.
