LUNEX Lecturer Explores Cardiorespiratory Health at ESGCO 2024
Senior Lecturer Dr. Raphael Martins de Abreu recently represented LUNEX at the 13th Meeting of the European Study Group on Cardiovascular Oscillations (ESGCO 2024), held from October 23 to 25 in Zaragoza, Spain. The ESGCO is a leading conference that gathers researchers and healthcare professionals from across Europe to discuss cutting-edge cardiovascular and respiratory physiology developments, focusing on the dynamic interactions between these two systems.
Dr. Martins de Abreu delivered an oral presentation titled “Cardiorespiratory Coupling and Exercise Capacity in Patients with Chronic Heart Failure.” His work highlights the complex relationship between the heart and lungs in individuals with chronic heart failure, aiming to uncover how these interactions influence exercise performance and overall quality of life.
This research is part of a collaborative effort between LUNEX, IRCCS Policlinico San Donato, and the University of Milan, combining exercise science, clinical research, and patient care expertise. By exploring how impaired cardiorespiratory coupling affects exercise capacity, the study offers potential insights for developing targeted rehabilitation programs to improve functional outcomes in heart failure patients.
LUNEX is proud to be part of this important research, demonstrating our ongoing commitment to advancing scientific knowledge in sports and health sciences.
