Accountant (full-time, permanent contract)

LUNEX is a specialised higher‐education institution founded in 2015 in Differdange (Luxembourg) offering programmes in health, sport, and management.

LUNEX is in a dynamic phase of growth and development. To strengthen our finance function, we are looking for an experienced Accountant to join our team on a full-time, on-site basis.

Reporting and working closely with the Financial Controller, the Accountant will manage day-to-day accounting operations, including student accounts, revenue recognition support, collections monitoring, and accurate financial reporting. The role also covers full operational responsibility for Accounts Payable, including supplier and external contractor invoice processing, approval checks, payment preparation, and supplier follow-up. Strong accounting knowledge, organizational skills, and the ability to work independently while liaising with internal and external stakeholders are essential.

This is a highly operational role, ideal for someone who enjoys structured accounting work, ownership of processes, and close collaboration with internal and external partners. This role also involves handling a high volume of email inquiries.

Key responsibilities

1. Accounts Payable (Suppliers; External contractors…)
• Process, verify, and record supplier invoices.
• Ensure correct approvals, coding, and timely payments.
• Prepare payment runs and follow up on supplier queries.

2. Student Account Management
• Maintain and monitor individual student accounts.
• Handle payment discrepancies and follow-up on outstanding balances.
• Manage and respond to a high volume of email inquiries from students and stakeholders.

3. Revenue Recognition
• Support monthly revenue recognition processes.
• Ensure proper financial reporting and compliance with internal policies.

4. Collections and Payment Monitoring
• Coordinate tuition fee collection.
• Improve and follow payment reminder systems.

5. Liaison with External Providers

• Act as the operational point of contact with the external accounting team.
• Provide documentation, reconciliations, and supporting schedules.
• Support month-end and year-end closings, audits, and reporting.

6. Administrative & Reporting Support

• Prepare internal financial summaries and assist with monthly closings.
• Ensure compliance with internal procedures and data confidentiality.

Candidate profile

Languages:

• Fluent in French and English (mandatory); other languages are a plus.

Technical Skills:

• Strong command of Microsoft Excel.
• Familiarity with accounting software is beneficial.

Education & Knowledge:

• Background in accounting principles and financial reporting.
• Degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field preferred.
• Proven experience in an operational AP/AR accounting role.

Personal Qualities:

• Accurate, detail-oriented, and professional.
• Strong organizational skills and ability to manage multiple priorities.
• Excellent written communication to manage email inquiries effectively.

Application for a Bachelor’s programme:

3. After successful participation in the Application Day we will email you with your study agreement. Please print it out, sign it and then send it to LUNEX by post or by e-mail, along with the evidence documents specified in the email.

Application for a Master’s programme:
1. Fill out our Online Application Form.
2. If you have met all the prerequisites for the Master’s programme, we will email you with your study agreement. Please read it carefully, print it out and sign it.
3. In order to complete your application, please send the signed study agreement along with all other required evidence documents by post to LUNEX.

As an applicant for one of our Bachelor’s programmes, you will be invited to attend an Application Day online. A selection procedure will take place on this day to check whether you meet the necessary prerequisites for the course.

More about the Application Day

The language of instruction in all courses at LUNEX is English. You should therefore be able to speak and understand English well. You have the opportunity to participate in the Pre-Bachelor Foundation Programme and improve your English if your language skills do not meet the entrance requirements for study at Bachelor level.

We will inform you in the course of the application process which supporting documents have to be provided and when. In principle, we need the following documents for your application:

  • Copy of your personal ID
  • Copy of the highest educational and/or vocational qualification
  • Language certificate (if applicable)

Depending on the degree programme (Bachelor/Master) and your country of origin (EU/non-EU), further documents may be required. More details will be provided to you in good time.

To secure a study place, we recommend that you send us your documents as soon as possible – but at the latest two weeks before the start of your studies. If you are an applicant from outside the EU, you should note that the application process for a visa can take four to 60 days. Please make sure you give yourself plenty of time.
