Building a Career in Sport Performance with Alessandro and Sophie

Sophie (28) and Alessandro (29), graduates of our Master in Sport & Exercise Science, have built careers that reflect their passion for sport and performance. Today, they are both applying the knowledge and practical skills they developed at LUNEX in different professional settings.

Alessandro now runs Cloud9, a training centre dedicated to functional training, Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu and sport-specific performance development. Alongside her role as a sports educator at the CDV Competence Centre for visually impaired people, Sophie supports the centre in her free time, combining her expertise in adapted physical activity with her passion for coaching.

Looking back on their time at LUNEX, both alumni highlight the practical approach of the programme and the lasting impact it has had on their professional journeys.

"The practical side of the programme. The lab experiences and the classes with Thorben and Fraser really stood out, especially the Psychology and Physiology modules, which we still use in our daily work."

Although they arrived at LUNEX from different backgrounds, they shared the same ambition: finding a programme that better matched their career goals. Alessandro transitioned from business marketing to pursue a future in sport, while Sophie decided to change universities after the COVID-19 pandemic in search of a more practical and modern learning experience. At LUNEX, they found the environment they were looking for and developed skills they continue to use every day.

Looking ahead, Sophie and Alessandro aim to continue growing Cloud9 into a larger performance centre and, in the future, integrate physiotherapists to create a multidisciplinary environment combining training, health and performance.

We are proud to see Sophie and Alessandro putting their LUNEX experience into practice and wish them every success as they continue developing their careers and contributing to the world of sport and performance.
