An Erasmus+ Placement in Braga: Sarah Oliveira's Experience

Thanks to the Erasmus+ programme, Sarah Oliveira, a third-year Bachelor in Physiotherapy student, had the opportunity to complete her nine-week placement in Braga, Portugal. She spent her placement at an inspiring and welcoming physiotherapy clinic, Santa Casa da Misericórdia Vila Verde.

"My placement in Braga was an unforgettable experience, both professionally and personally. I had the opportunity to work in an MSK ambulatory clinic alongside an incredible team who welcomed me with kindness, patience and positivity from day one."

During her placement, Sarah discovered different approaches to physiotherapy, including hydrotherapy, electrotherapy, manual therapy and muscular reinforcement. She also had the chance to work with paediatric, adult and geriatric patients, while learning about rare syndromes such as Stickler Syndrome and Angelman Syndrome.

"What made this experience truly special was the atmosphere: warm, open-minded and full of humanity. The clinic was not only a place of treatment, but also a place where patients felt listened to, accepted and encouraged every single day."
