LUNEX Student Patrizia Van der Weken Competes at Paris 2024 Olympics
We are excited to acknowledge the achievements of Luxembourgish athlete and LUNEX student Patrizia Van der Weken, who recently competed in the Paris 2024 Olympics. Participating in the women’s 100m event, Patrizia advanced to the semi-finals. Although she didn’t qualify for the final, her performance was commendable.
Patrizia is pursuing her Master of Sport Management and Digitalisation degree at LUNEX, where she benefits from student-athlete status. This status allows her to balance her academic commitments with her training and competition schedule, enabling her to compete internationally.
Since 2017, Patrizia has consistently ranked at the top in Luxembourg. She is an eight-time national indoor champion and a five-time national outdoor champion. A few weeks before the Olympics, at the European Athletics Championships held in Rome in June 2024, Patrizia set a new personal best in the 100m with a time of 11.00 seconds. Arriving in Paris for her first Olympic Games, she was ranked 13th in the world in the 100m.
Patrizia’s journey shows the hard work and dedication required to excel in athletics while maintaining academic progress at LUNEX. We look forward to seeing her future accomplishments in the world of sports.
