LUNEX Alumni Laura: From Graduate to Healthcare Professional
Laura, a 28-year-old, 2022 LUNEX graduate, is now working in France in the oncology and intensive care units at Bel-Air Hospital in Thionville.
„I currently work at the Bel-Air Hospital in Thionville in the oncology unit and mainly in ICU (intensive care unit). My role is to maintain functional capacities and maintain the autonomy of patients for a potential return home. In ICU, the job of physiotherapist is technical, I do a lot of respiratory physiotherapy and early mobilization. I can also work during the weekend for patients requiring respiratory intervention throughout the hospital. We are on call approximately 1 weekend per month.“
The Path to Professional Equivalence
„At the end of my master’s degree, I applied for equivalence in France through DREETS. You must register with the order of physiotherapists in the region of your choice. Carefully consider the commission dates for the region you wish to work in. You need to provide a lot of papers: diploma, internship hours signed by school, course summary and up-to-date French file. Everything is relatively well explained online.“
Reflections on the LUNEX Experience
„What I loved about LUNEX during my studies was the presence of the teachers who were always there for me at any time, always available to answer my questions and help me improve. I have a very good memory of my placement at the Colpach rehabilitation center. It was my first placement, I won’t forget it any time soon! The tutors were great listeners, the place was incredible. I realized there I’d chosen the right profession!“
